Why Is Lifestyle Medicine Important?

It can help prevent more serious injuries.

With yearly physical assessments, your physical therapist can identify potential problems early to help prevent future injury and disease.

It’s easy and cost effective.

Preventative care is always better than waiting for serious problems to develop over time. It’s easier and more cost effective to treat minor issues now instead of big issues later.

It can break the cycle of chronic pain.

Are you dealing with long-term pain that’s holding you back from living the life you want? We’re experts at treating chronic and complex pain so you can get back to living.

It puts you in control of your health.

When our clients actively take control of their health, their quality of life improves. You’ll be empowered with the knowledge you need to stay strong and healthy no matter your age.

What to Expect

Our Approach to Preventative Physical Therapy

At Life’s Work, we look deeper than surface level symptoms to understand how your entire body is working as a system. This allows us to identify the underlying causes of complex pain and injuries. We can even address early-stage problems that aren’t causing pain yet.

Our “Do What Works” approach allows us to use the latest, evidenced-based practices to develop a personalized treatment plan just for you. Our commitment to kind, compassionate customer service helps our clients leave each appointment feeling motivated and excited to improve their health.

Comprehensive Physical Assessments

Our goal is to detect problems and treat them before they affect your quality of life. That’s why we developed a comprehensive, annual orthopedic physical called the AGING STRONG Assessment. It’s a full body, head to toe assessment of your health, including factors like:

  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Power
  • Balance
  • Coordination
  • Injury risk
  • Lifestyle needs around hydration, nutrition, and exercise
  • Mortality risk
  • Cardiovascular fitness

At the end of your 80 minute session, you’ll have a full understanding of how your body is functioning and the specific steps you can take to improve your health.

Preventative Physical Therapy Treatment

You and your physical therapist will talk about the results of your assessment together. We’ll give you individualized recommendations for exercise, nutrition, disease prevention, and actions you can take to meet your health goals.

If you’re dealing with pain, or your health assessment reveals a potential problem, we will work with you to build a personalized treatment plan to help you recover. Our emphasis on orthopedic manual therapy allows us to begin physically treating injuries at your first appointment. In fact, most clients report less pain after only one session.

Let’s work together to prevent age-related orthopedic pain, so you can age greatly, not just gracefully!

Let's get better together.
